Ein Überschreiten dieser Grenzen ist als Kurpfuscherei zu werten und strafrechtlich relevant. Bei der Entnahme der Haarwurzeln kann es vorkommen, dass die Lokalanästhesie nachlässt und dann wieder Lokalanästhetikum nachgegeben werden muss. Auch dieses neuerliche Geben der örtlichen Betäubung darf nur der Arzt durchführen. Dr. Karl Stiefsohn erhält regelmäßig Anfragen von sogenannten FUE-Teams, die ohne ärztliche Ausbildung das Entnehmen der Follikeleinheiten und das Verpflanzen anbieten. So gesehen ist es notwendig, dass man als Patient im Rahmen einer geplanten Eigenhaarverpflanzung auf die ausschließliche Entnahme durch einen Arzt besteht und dies bei der Verpflanzung auch überprüft. Wenn man als Patient zu Beginn einer Haarverpflanzung eine höhere Dosis eines Beruhigungsmittels angeboten bekommt und dadurch die Aufmerksamkeit gewollt herabgesetzt ist, gestaltet sich diese Überprüfung oft schwierig.
